If you use Face ID on your phone, and it is not recognizing you, then there is a chance that Apple may replace it free of charge. In this case, technician should test and replace the front camera first. If it doesn’t fix the problem, the rear camera also should be replaced according to AppleInsider. If it doesn’t fix the problem, then Apple may replace it.
We don’t know what the relationship of the rear camera with the Face ID is, but Apple suggests doing swapping the front and rear cameras one by one. We are also not sure if Apple will compensate the camera swap expenses by third-party technicians for iPhone X owners without Apple care.
Our Advice: We suggest taking your phone to Apple store first and estimating the expenses, before going looking for cheaper options. However, the camera swap doesn’t guarantee that Face ID will work, so if it is too expensive for you, you might want to disable it and use other security features.

- Open Settings – Face ID & Passcode
- Turn off iPhone Unlock
